7. The seriousness of H1N1. Comments?

As you know, H1N1 is spreading around the world and it kills. Don’t you think it is scary? And a very serious matter?

Firstly, let me define the term ‘H1N1’. H1N1 is a subtype of the species Influenza A virus. H1N1 has mutated into various strains including the Spanish Flu strain. Let me tell you something more interesting. The 2009 swine flu outbreak is an epidemic of a new strain of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 identified in April 2009. It was thought to be a mutation (reassortment) of four known strains of influenza A virus subtype H1N1: one endemic in humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine).[51] A June 5th update by the U.N.'s World Health Organization (WHO) states that “69 countries have officially reported 21,940 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 125 deaths.”]

125 deaths! Every imagined that? Its really getting on everyone’s nerves. Thus, H1N1 is a very serious, dangerous kind of virus. It causes threat to many lives, including ourselves. Even though Singapore is quite safe, the government has also take careful precaution, but we also have a part to play to keep the people around us and ourselves safe, right?

So some tips here which you can follow.

1. Take your temperature regularly.
2. If you are feeling unwell, do see the doctor at once. Do not take it lightly.
3. Try not to share personal things such as towels, toothbrush etc.
4. Avoid crowded places.
5. Unless necessary, try to stay in Singapore.
6. AND MORE! Do search for more

Now you see the seriousness of H1N1, the number of precaution needed to be taken by one and the number of death it causes. So I advice you not to take H1N1 lightly!
