camping
Hello guys and girls! I am back. Sorry for not updating. Well, today, I am going to post about my trip on the camp. Overall, I think I benefited a lot from the camp. I learn to cherish everything I have, even if its is just a bowl of porridge. During the three days two night camp and sarinbum camp site, I, in fact most, suffered, but learnt a lot of valuable things. During the camp, we had food that does not match our appetite, a place we would not ever want to stay in. But we were left we no choice. I was arranged to stay in tent. Can you ever imagine 8 persons to a tent? And you imagine how hot, stuffy inside the tent during noon? Well, to me, I rather not take something I need in the noon as it was very hot, stuffy inside the tent. I could not stand it. This was the first time I am living in a tent. I finally have a taste of one who is living in a tent feeling. It is always not a nice thing to live inside a place without air-condition, fan. But I manage to catch some sleep as it was much cooler in the night. As for the food, it was not really nice cooked. But due to our hunger and the need of energy for activities, we had to eat it despite the fact that the food was really not nice. This two factors, living condition and food, is enough to reflect on how fortunate, how lucky we people are. People who are poor might not have nice place to live in, nice food to eat. But we Singaporean, take a lot of things for granted. Sometimes, we even complain that a bowl of plain porridge is not nice enough. Through this camp, I learnt how fortunate we guys are, and we should not take things for granted, not even a grain of rice.
Of course, we also have bonding games, activities that we had to work together in order to reach a goal. We work well together, and get to know each other better. This helps to strengthen the bond between our friends. And we also had fun together, leaving a memorable times with our new friends in secondary.
Well, I hope that the school can organize more camp, such that we can have fun together with our friends. In conclusion, I want to comment that the camp

I am really very disappointed in myself. I knew I have not work hard enough. I know the cause of my bad results is because of me. even though this time I have not work hard enough, I promise my self not to give up and strive for the better! Okay, I have to go. I will be posting again soon. So sit back and look forward!

Growing up too soon(news paper article)
Today, I am going to post on the article ‘Growing Up Too Soon’ that is extracted from the section “IN’ of The Straits Time. The article is most likely a Idea-Driven Story. It is about teenage are having sex before they are 16. Latest police figures also show that 310 girls below the age of 16 were caught having sex last year and nearly 45 percent more than the year before.
After reading the first paragraph, I was totally shocked and panic. I wondered why there is so many teenagers having sex below 16 years old. 310 girls. Its 310 girls! Its not a small sum of people. It is equivalent to about four fifth of the secondary 1 in my sch (Hwa Chong Institution). It is really unbelievable. The number of girls having sex under-aged was shocking to me.
Teenagers nowadays are getting even more daring. Having sex under-aged is a serious offence. Male offender can be jailed for up to a maximum of 20 years, and fined or canned. Girls aged 12 to 14 will be considered as statutory but for girls under the age of 12 are investigated as rape.
From a 13 year old young teenager’s view like me, I really don’t understand why the teenagers still want to carry out under-aged sex even though it is an offence. I agree that some might not know the consequences of having sex under-aged. Thus they made a wrong move and carry out sex. But to those who knows, but why? To me, I think that because they tend to get too curious about what is sex all about and wanted to try it out despite the serious punishment that will be meted out if they were to get caught. This is really too complicated for a young teenager like me to understand thoroughly.
By the way, here are some precautions that parents and school that I suggest could take to prevent their child or students to have sex under-aged. Firstly, school can have more talks on ‘sex’ that enriches the teenager’s mind on sex. This will let them know the consequences and be responsible for their acts if they really were to have sex. Secondly parents should always check if his or her children has a girlfriend or boyfriend and make sure that they aren’t going out with their partners without other friends. This will ensures that the teenager’s mind run wild and do something wrong and rash as their friends are around to remind them the consequences.
In conclusion, I think having under-aged sex in strongly not encourage. One should not have sex under-aged no matter how urgent, how curious they are. Remember, one should be responsible for his or her act. No one is able to help you if you make a wrong step.

Kampong
Hello everybody! I am back to post again. Today I am going to blog about the topic on kampong. In Singapore, from what I have seen on the youtube website, the government might be destroying the old and the only kampong if I am not wrong, in Singapore. The people who had stayed in the government since a very long time ago was very depressed and felt a little bit pity if they were to leave the kampong and leave else where.. Those that were staying there for long was interviewed and they say out their feelings, opinion, etc. Some said that they have lived there for a very long time and think that they will not be used to the life if they were to move to a HDB flat. As the people living in kampong will hardly interact with the people outside as there are no internets connection or even hardly have any phone, their life is thus much more simpler and more peaceful While some also said that they are used to kampong life, and have been neighbours with the people in kampong for years, they thing that it might be a pity to separate. Well, in my opinion, I think that the government should not “destroy” the kampong for land even though they have the right to do so. Even if the land does not belong to the people in kampong, we should at least respect them and let them carry on with their kampong life if they are really contented with it. We should not think that kampong is low-class or despise them. Actually, they reflect the past of Singapore and tell people nowadays not to be granted for what they have now. Thus I really hope that the government can preserve the kampong and treat it as one of the treasure of Singapore! Okay, it’s getting late and I have to go. I will be posting soon again, so look forward to it! Thanks for your kind attention

CCA
Hello everybody. Sorry for not updating so frequently. Okay, today I want to talk about my CCA. I received the CCA posting result. And I was quite elated at first. I got into the water polo which I put for the first choice when I was filling my option form. Official will start next Tuesday but I already had one session of training today. The training was rather tough, and like what the coach said, the training will be an intensive one. Even though it might be a challenge to me, but I am willing to face it, persevere to the end. My training is on every week, Tuesday , Thursday and Friday. It will begin at 2.30 pm and ends at 6.00pm. I hope it does not affect my performance in work and get too tired frequently. Lastly, I just one to end off with an sentence. Persevere in whatever you do! Thanks. Comment will be on the tag board. So feel free to tag!

Introduction and current affairs(week 3)
Hello everybody. Firstly, i will like to welcome you all for visiting my blog. This will be the blog for my 'Language Arts Ace-blog'. Which is to say, this blog will be use for the purpose of Language Arts ACE 2009.
Maybe i should start of with some self introduction of myself. I am Lim Wen Bin (12) from 1o3. And you can find out more about me on the right hand side of the blog, which has different boxes being filled up. Examples of my information being filled in the boxes are my hobbies, 'about me' and so on. So do read up on my blog and my post oftenly. You are most welcome to tag on the chat box if you do have any opinion that you might want to raise or comments that you want to let me know, so that i can improve on it.
That’s all about the introduction. Back to the current affairs. This week's(week 3) current affair debate is held on Tuesday 20/1/2009. The topic is on economical development will always have the upper hand. We are very honored to have Issac Lim to be our host, Tan Jun to act as Dr Yacoob, our chairman Yong Rui to play the role of environmentalist, Yin Pin to be the business, and last but not least, Lenneth to be the fisherman for the debate.
Now, let me refresh you memory first before telling you what's my point of view. Dr yacoob mentioned that reclaiming land is very important and to build buildings and IR(integrated resort) to boost Singapore economic and help the people have who lost their jobs during recession recently. He also mentioned that we should not over spend on environment till our county is stable and have enough funds to concentrate on environment. Conclusion-Economic growth is the key for Singapore to become a stable country. In my point of view, i think that reclaiming land and building IR and buildings is a long-term project. By the time when the project is completed, I think Singapore would have already overcome the recession. Those that have lost their jobs might have already go out of Singapore to find jobs. So, even reclaiming land is important, i think we should use the money wisely and think of giving money to those needy people who is suffering during the recession. This may help them to relieve their problem they are facing.
As for the environmentalist, he said that now is not the time to reclaim land but focus more on environment. He talked about species extinction, deforestation e.g. have taken place because of over population and over consumption. In the 21st century, more and more people are living in big houses, driving expensive car that burn a lot of petrol. Conclusion-People neglected the environment when they are enjoying their life. He said that using money on the environment can make Singapore a better country, cleaner and more beautiful country. This will result in attracting the tourist, indirectly boosting Singapore economic. In my point of view, i totally agree to what he says. But i don't think now is the right time to focus too much on the environment. While recession is still yet to overcome by most or all country in the world, many people will learn to use less, save more. If they would to fly and travel to Singapore, it will cost a bomb as the price of everything now is going up. Thus, i think the tourist would rather stay in their country instead of coming to Singapore.
Unfortunately, our business man, yin pin, had prepared wrong things and was not able to deliver his speech on the spot. But he did prepare a lot even though he prepared the wrong things. I think the number of things he prepared was commendable. Thus, we should not say things bad about him and if possible, praise him for his preparation. Imagine you are him, you also would not wish that people will say bad things if you had done something wrong. Am i right? Everyone commits mistake, but the most important is whether you learn from the mistake.
And last but not least, our fisherman! He did a great job in capturing the audience attention. He talks about the effects on marine life if reclaiming land were to take place. Some effects that may take place are the sea creatures that stay near the shore may die. And there will be lesser fishes for the fisherman to catch. This will affect the income of the fisherman. And making their life hard. As he mentioned, full time fisherman are usually low educated. Thus, if reclaiming land were to really take place, fisherman will really suffer. In my point of view, reclaiming land will take place either recently or in the future. Thus, I think the fisherman should try to educate themselves by taking up lesson like English lesson, computer lesson, to help them when they are finding jobs. Chinese they have one saying that goes 'huo dao lao, xue dao lao'. It means that no matter how old are you, you should continue to learn and 'self-upgrade' yourself. I think this saying same goes to the fisherman.
Lastly, I would like to end of by saying some words. Economic and environment is equally important. I don't really think that one will get the upper hand and the other one get to lower hand. But most importantly, I think it is still our people. If there is no people, we would have not been able to reclaim land, or make Singapore a cleaner and more beautiful a better country. Thus, i think we should first use the money to help the needy first. Then discuss on which project, reclaiming land or cleaning and improving the environment, to carry out first, or even better, both being carried out together.
No matter how good or bad was the debate, I think we should say a thank you to the debaters for spending their precious time on researching and preparing. Thank you very much! We appreciate your debate a lot. It was indeed a great debate to me!
This shall be the end of the post for today. Should there be any opinion or comments, you can tag at the chat box. Thank you.
